Threatening Document Leads to Third Student Charged in Planned Attack Against Fort Worth Middle School

Fort Worth, Texas – A third student at a middle school in far north Fort Worth has been charged in connection with creating and editing an online document detailing a planned attack against students and staff, officials from the Northwest Independent School District announced.

After receiving a tip from a parent during school on May 1, officials discovered the disturbing document which included plans to attack Wilson Middle School and listed 25 students and seven staff members as targets. Following an investigation, two students were arrested and charged with pending felony charges, with a third student later found responsible for the threatening document.

According to the district’s Discipline Management Plan, any student charged with a felony terroristic threat after an investigation could face disciplinary action, including placement in the District Alternative Education Program for a set period.

Moving forward, Northwest ISD schools will conduct threat assessment reviews before allowing any student involved in terroristic threats to return to campus. To enhance security, an armed guard will actively monitor the school premises, and a Fort Worth Police Department school resource officer will also be present on campus.

Officials emphasized the importance of reporting any suspicious activity to school administrators or staff, with the option for anonymous reporting through the district’s tip line. Additionally, counselors will be available at Wilson Middle School to support students.

The presence of additional security measures aims to reassure students, staff, and parents that the school is a safe environment for learning. In light of recent events, absences due to safety concerns will be excused for students who chose to stay home. Wilson Middle School, part of the Northwest ISD, serves students not only in far north Fort Worth but also in 13 other surrounding communities.
