Amazon Flex Delivery Driver Shot and Killed While Working: Family Demands Answers and Accountability

KING COUNTY, Wash. – The family of an Amazon delivery driver who was fatally shot while making deliveries is calling for accountability from the shooter and the company. Sergey Kubay, 50, had been working as an Amazon Flex driver for at least four years before he was found shot in his car on January 25.

Sergey’s brother expressed the need for Amazon to provide better protection for part-time drivers like Sergey. In addition, Sergey’s wife, who is also a package delivery driver, now fears for her safety while making deliveries.

The family relied on the income from Amazon to take care of their children, and they are now left wondering who is looking out for Flex drivers who often make deliveries late into the night.

Amazon spokesperson Montana MacLachlan expressed the company’s deep sadness over the crime and stated that they are working with the authorities to support the investigation. However, the family is seeking more concrete measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

Sergey was delivering packages at the Fairwood Pond Apartments in King County when he was shot. Despite residents hearing the shots, no one came to check until the following morning when deputies were called and found him shot twice.

Although initial reports suggest Sergey was involved in an altercation, it is unclear why he was targeted. Sergey’s family is focused on moving forward and has set up a fund to lay him to rest.

The case is still under investigation, and anyone with information is urged to contact the King County Sheriff’s Office.

In the aftermath of this tragic event, the family’s message is one of forgiveness and the hope to move forward despite their pain.
