Custody Extended for Cory and Randy Rushkewich in Violent Assault Case

SASKATOON, Canada – Two men, Cory Rushkewich and Randy Rushkewich, are currently in custody awaiting a preliminary hearing scheduled for September. They face charges related to a violent attack in Rosetown that left a man critically injured and fighting for his life in a hospital in Saskatoon.

Cory Rushkewich, aged 33, and Randy Rushkewich, aged 29, were remanded after appearing in Rosetown Circuit Court on April 25. These charges follow an incident in November 2023 where a robbery and serious assault occurred in the 1st Street West area of Rosetown. During the altercation, a man stole a cellphone from a woman and brandished a firearm, leading to a violent assault on a male victim who sustained severe injuries.

The male victim was rushed to a Saskatoon hospital for treatment and was placed in a medically induced coma due to the extent of his injuries. Cory Rushkewich faces charges of aggravated assault, pointing a firearm, and robbery, while Randy Rushkewich is also charged with aggravated assault stemming from the same incident.

Previously, Cory Rushkewich had been granted bail in Saskatoon court in December 2023 but was later rearrested for breaching release conditions. Randy Rushkewich has been in custody since his arrest in November 2023, following the violent incident in Rosetown.

The upcoming preliminary hearing in September will further delve into the details of the case and determine the next steps in the legal proceedings for Cory Rushkewich and Randy Rushkewich. The community in Rosetown and Saskatoon awaits developments in this case as the victims and their families seek justice for the harm caused.
