IRELAND, West Virginia – In a tragic incident, investigators have revealed that two of the five victims in a house fire on Glady Creek Road may have still been alive when the fire started last month. According to Lewis County Sheriff David Gosa, one victim died of smoke inhalation, while an infant also likely perished while the fire was ongoing. Two other victims were already deceased, one from a gunshot wound while trying to escape the burning home, and another found inside the residence.
Sheriff Gosa expressed the challenging task of identifying the victims, citing a lack of sufficient dental records from the family. The remains of the final unidentified victim may present difficulties in determining the cause of death due to the extent of the fire damage.
