Attack: NIA Arrests UK Resident for Involvement in Violent Assault on Indian High Commission

New Delhi, India – The National Investigation Agency (NIA) made a significant breakthrough on Thursday by arresting an individual in connection to the violent attack on the High Commission of India in London in March 2023. Inderpal Singh Gaba, a resident of Hounslow in the United Kingdom, was apprehended in Delhi for his alleged involvement in unlawful activities during the subsequent protests that occurred following the attack.

According to the NIA, investigations have revealed that the incidents in London were part of a larger conspiracy to carry out vicious attacks on Indian missions and officials. The attacks in London were reportedly in retaliation to actions taken by the Punjab police against pro-Khalistani separatist Amritpal Singh. Moreover, the agency had previously conducted searches at various locations linked to individuals suspected of being involved in the attack on the High Commission in London.

The High Commission was targeted by a group of around 50 individuals who were accused of committing various offenses, including criminal trespass and causing damage to public property. The attack was orchestrated by individuals such as Gurcharan Singh of the Dal Khalsa, Avtar Singh Khanda of the Khalistan Liberation Force, Jasvir Singh, and their associates, both domestic and foreign nationals.

In an effort to gather evidence, a NIA team was dispatched to the U.K. last year for a crowdsourcing initiative to identify and collect information on U.K.-based entities and individuals involved in the alleged conspiracy. The agency’s investigations have shed light on the intricate web of events leading up to the attack on the High Commission, pointing to a carefully orchestrated plan to disrupt diplomatic relations between India and the U.K.

The arrest of Inderpal Singh Gaba marks a significant step forward in the ongoing investigation into the events surrounding the attack on the High Commission of India in London. Authorities continue to delve further into the matter, uncovering details of the conspiracy and those involved in plotting the violent assault. The NIA remains committed to ensuring that all perpetrators are brought to justice and that diplomatic missions remain safeguarded against such threats in the future.
