Heartbreaking plea from family of man left for dead after being shot multiple times at night on Indianapolis street

Indianapolis, Indiana – A family in Indianapolis is left seeking answers and justice after the tragic death of their loved one, 28-year-old Robert Woods, who was shot multiple times while riding his bike on the northeast side of the city.

On April 26, police responded to a call at 29th and Ralston Avenue around 10 p.m. after a driver discovered Woods lying in the road next to his bike. Woods was rushed to the hospital but sadly succumbed to his injuries two days later.

According to Robert’s sister, Travena Woods, he was able to communicate with a witness at the scene, instructing them to contact his family. Travena received the call and rushed to the hospital, only to face the devastating loss of her brother.

Described as a joyful and kind person who kept to himself, Robert’s senseless killing has left his family in shock and disbelief. His cousin, Latisha Martin, expressed the pain and confusion felt by the family, stating that Robert was a good person who didn’t bother anyone, making his death even more senseless.

As the family grapples with the tragic loss, they are desperate for answers and closure. They are urging the perpetrator to come forward and face the consequences of their actions, questioning the motive behind the brutal killing and pleading for accountability.

Despite the lack of solid leads, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) is urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in the investigation. Detective Steven Gray from the IMPD Homicide Office can be contacted at 317-327-3475, or individuals can choose to remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 317-262-8477.

The family continues to mourn the loss of Robert Woods, hoping that the community will come together to seek justice for his senseless death and bring closure to their grieving hearts.
