Teenager Arrested in Connection with Fatal Shooting of 14-Year-Old Rankin County Student

Jackson, Mississippi – A third teenager has been taken into custody in connection with the tragic shooting that took the life of a 14-year-old student in Rankin County. Siyaski Crawford, 15, has emerged as the latest suspect linked to the case and is being held on a $1.5 million bond. Alongside Crawford, another suspect, 16-year-old Maxle Mooneyham, faced a court appearance, also receiving a $1.5 million bond. Additionally, 17-year-old John Foote stands charged with murder and has been denied bond. Police Chief Joseph Wade of Jackson mentioned the possibility of a fourth arrest in the ongoing investigation.

The victim, Cameron Horne-Crook, was discovered shot to death on Monday night at a residence on Ridgecrest Drive. Family member Violet Horne suspects foul play, asserting that Mooneyham lured Cameron to the location where the fatal incident occurred. She mentioned that both Cameron and the suspect had attended an alternative school together but remains puzzled as to the motive behind her son’s untimely death.

During court proceedings, an investigator revealed that Cameron sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso. Mooneyham faces accusations of discarding the body on the street and then driving the truck back to Rankin County, allegedly tampering with evidence in the process. Authorities mentioned the possibility of upgrading Mooneyham’s charges to capital murder.

Northwest Rankin Middle School, where Cameron was a student, expressed deep sorrow over his passing, offering condolences to his family and loved ones during this challenging time. The Rankin County School District has made counselors available for students and staff in need of support during this difficult period.

The community is left reeling from the senseless tragedy, grappling with the loss of a young life and seeking justice for Cameron Horne-Crook. As the investigation continues, the hope for answers and closure remains a priority for all involved in this heartbreaking case.
